Apryl & Mikey :: Big Sur Engagement Road Trip

When Mikey and I first started talking about his and Apryl's engagement session, the idea of road-tripping definitely was in the works, but more along the lines of a quick day trip down south. However, as we looked at our calendars, we realized something bigger, better, and norther (yep, that's a word) had the potential of happening. So on a Thursday evening, Mikey, Apryl, and Hannah, one of Apryl's and my best friends, headed up towards Big Sur. Here are some photos (and an occasional caption) from the following day!

Beautiful views, books, Mikey's in-car Christmas tree and respective ornaments, and Apryl selflessly giving out back scratches.

As it was elephant seal mating season, a stop at the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery was a must. Here, Apryl and Hannah use binos to survey endemic wildlife.

And then we got to our destination! Beauty all around. We started shooting, but something was still missing.

Ah. Now that's better. [Note: this is why you always bring a friend along on your engagement shoot.]

Apryl performs emergency surgery on Mikey's flannel. Okay, now I'll be quiet and let you view these in peace!

This one makes me laugh every time :)

A little later in the afternoon, we piled back into the car and started making our return trip, but not of course without stopping along the way!

And then it was dinner time. Nothing to finish off a day in Big Sur like delicious tri-tip steak sandwiches at Main Street Grill in Cambria :)

Margo & Jackson :: Santa Barbara Wedding

Ah, where to start?! Margo and Jackson both played a significant role in my life during my time in college; Jackson and I commiserated in more than one physics class together in my first years of Westmont (though who doesn't want to take a class called Differential Equations?), and it was probably his quirky sense of humor and incredible ability to replicate any sound effect known to man that made any of those classes enjoyable (okay, they weren't that bad of classes, but still...). Margo, on the other hand, I got to know better near the end of my time at Westmont, when we were resident assistants together in the same dorm. If it weren't for Margo, our staff probably would've gotten a lot less done - Margo's dedication and hard-working spirit is phenomenal - and laughed a lot less - like Jackson, Margo has a great sense of humor, and a wonderful and contagious laugh to accompany it! As you can probably guess, they had an incredibly fun wedding; here's a collection of some of my favorite photos from the day!

Anne & David :: Santa Barbara Engagement

I had such a fun time shooting Anne and David's engagement session on Saturday! They spent the evening walking, talking, and laughing together (okay, there may have been a little kissing too :), and it is so obvious how much they care for each other. We couldn't have asked for better weather or a more beautiful sunset. Looking forward to the wedding!
